If you have been here before today, you probably immediately noticed a box in the upper left of the site telling you that you had a certain number of mullets.
Lots of questions are likely to be going through your head: What is deal with these mullets? Why do I have them? What can I do with them? How do I get more? Will I get credit for my back mullets? I'll answer those questions one at a time.
What is the deal with these mullets?
Mullets are a new feature here at The Awesome Theory. We have instituted a currency system, and the unit of said currency is the mullet. What you see in the box on every page is how many mullets you have in your Awesome Theory account.
Why do I have them?
You have them because you are a member of The Awesome Theory. We give you 100 mullets just for joining as our way of saying "Thank you".
What can I do with them?
You can spend them, of course! Anywhere you see an image like this:
That means that you can spend your mullets in the amount shown on the button for the effect specified by the button's label. Right now you can only spend your mullets while on
Other people's profiles and in
The Mullet Store. The Mullet Store currently offers over a dozen ways to spend your mullets.
Also note that we will constantly be adding ways that you can spend your mullets. Upcoming ways include: Buying a discount on Awesome Theory merchandise, purchasing extra uses on rank special abilities once they go live, and buying hints to quiz answers.
How do I get more?
Just about everything you do at The Awesome Theory earns you mullets. When you participate on the site, the site gets better because of that participation so we pay you mullets for it. Here is a partial list of how you can earn mullets: Take the quiz, rate a candidate, blog entry, or game, comment on a candidate, blog entry, or game, answer a question, make posts, vote, submit axioms, and having an axiom canonized.
You may not get mullets every single time you do any of these things, and the amount of mullets you get may vary. The exact system we use to award mullets will not be revealed in an effort to limit abuse. With that said, we have some checks in place and if we notice anyone abusing the system to gain extra mullets, that person will be heavily fined and will find themselves on mullet welfare.
Will I get credit for my back mullets?
If you have been on the site for more than a day, you should notice that you have more than 100 mullets, even though you only get 100 for being a member. We have gone back and looked at your previous site activity and awarded you mullets retroactively according to that activity.
